La Terra Saggia – our new place in Italy

A brave step…

It was ‘in the air’ for quite some time. Every now and then we* fantasized about having our own place. How would that be? Where? We had our preference in terms of country. We had doubts about the amount of work… could we afford it…..? And suddenly we saw something on the internet that made our hearts beat faster. Unexpectedly it went fast. At the end of January, during the second lockdown, we flew to Italy and went to Le Marche. We were allowed to travel to view an estate. The place, even more beautiful than on the pictures. What a silence! Only being welcomed by birds singing, trees rustling…
From that moment on it was as if magic was working for us. At the right time, the right people crossed our path to make it possible. It seemed like all we had to do was to follow the current and take a brave step.

Beautifully situated in the hills, at 15 minutes driving distance from San Severino lies a small hamlet, a borgo. It’s in Italian style with a villa, a few smaller houses, a little church, a school, a swimming pool and a workshop for artists. Some buildings ready for us, others in rough construction with room for imagination and creative architecture. In addition, extensive farmland with olive and walnut trees, a little stream set in wild groves. A place ideal for our writing – creative and silent retreats. For agriturismo and some social projects that we already have in mind.  La Terra Saggia, that is how we call it. The wise earth, a new world is opening up to us.
